Cedars CanSupport

Cedars CanSupport is a program run by professionals and volunteers that is funded and managed through the Cedars Foundation.
It offers a range of services to cancer patients and their families such as support groups, educational services, new patient orientation and humanitarian aid. It also provides complementary therapies such as art, music, meditation and yoga.

2023 Concert for Kids with Cancer

Léandre Gaucher is a 14-year-old violinist and brain cancer survivor. On February 11th, 2023, Léandre will perform alongside his brother Audrick and other classical musicians at the Valois United Church in Pointe-Claire, to raise money for kids with cancer at the Montreal Children’s Hospital through Sarah’s Fund for Cedars.

I am Arielle, a hematology/oncology/stem cell transplant nurse at the Royal Victoria for over a year. I have decided to challenge myself to a half-Ironman and join this experience to raise funds for the Cedars Cancer Foundation. 23 November 2022 2022 Le Gala Gala raises $1.8 million for the Cedars Cancer Centre of the McGill University Health Centre. The event rocked Windsor Station with memorable performances by Grammy Award winner Thelma Houston and American Idol contestant Nicolina.

10 November 2022 2022 Spreading Warmth for the Cause We did it! The scarf sale is over and together, we were able to raise $1450.00 to help Cedars CanSupport in its mission of offering support and comfort to cancer patients, survivors and care givers. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everyone who contributed, either by purchasing scarves or buying and donating them back to cancer patients. 19 October 2022 2022 Cedars Run for Ovarian Cancer Hundreds of walkers and runners, many wearing elaborate team costumes, took to the streets of Town of Mount Royal on Sunday, October 16, for the 7th annual Cedars Run for Ovarian Cancer. The event, which raised over $120,000, is the signature annual fundraiser for the Dagenais Joly-Smith Fund, and all proceeds support the DOvEEgene project, under the leadership of Dr. Lucy Gilbert, Director of Gynecologic Oncology at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC).

17 October 2022 2022 La Roche-Posay’s Ride at La Grande Roue for a good cause On September 13th, 2022, La Roche-Posay’s Ride at La Grande Roue for a good cause raised over $171,000 for the Program for Women’s cancer Research (PWR): a program launched in 2021 by the Division of Radiation Oncology at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). PWR (pronounced “power”) conducts research that will improve cure rates and outcomes for women diagnosed with gynecological and breast cancers.

13 September 2022 2022 FL Fuller Landau Cedars CanSupport Dragon Boat Race MONTRÉAL, September 13, 2022 – The 17th edition of the FL Fuller Landau Cedars CanSupport Dragon Boat Race, which was held on Saturday, September 10, in Lachine, raised over $525,000 and counting for Cedars CanSupport: an organization that provides programs and services that improve the quality of life of cancer patients at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC).

Winning ticket for 2022: #0387 Proceeds support the OPAL project, an application for cancer patients at the MUHC, which offers autonomy during their cancer journey by helping them organize all documents and appointments in one place.

28 June 2022 2022 Annual Cedars Golf Classic Another sold out tournament, another record result! Over 270 golfers joined over 100 sponsors and a host of staff and volunteers on Monday June 20, 2022 at the Royal Montreal Golf Club and raised over $665,000 for the cause. This incredible show of philanthropy made it a day where hope, innovation and excellence were top of mind.

28 October 2021 2021 Cedars Run for Ovarian Cancer Montreal, QC., Oct. 22, 2021 - The Cedars Cancer Foundation is proud to announce that the 6th Annual Cedars Run for Ovarian Cancer successfully raised in excess of $130,000. The event took place on Sunday, October 17th in Town of Mount Royal and attracted over 320 participants.

6 October 2021 2021 Stella and Vincent's Ride for Change On October 2nd we had our first Ride for Change - an 80 km cyclo-tour being held by Stella and Vincent in memory of their beloved friend Joe Cheaib. We rode in Austin, Québec in the picturesque Eastern Townships and enjoyed the countryside together. After the ride, participants enjoyed a lunch at the cottage, shared some memories from the day, and wound down in the company of friends.

18 November 2020 Annual Appeal 2020 It’s been a year unlike most. This was a year filled with hope, and filled with heartache. We postponed our primary fundraisers due to the pandemic, and have increased our humanitarian aid both locally and abroad. Our heartache included the loss of cherished loved ones and community leaders. It included tens of thousands of Quebecers and millions worldwide being affected by this virus. But throughout, and forever forward, we will maintain a singular focus - since cancer has not and will not take a pause.

8 September 2020 Joe Cheaib Legacy Fund It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joe Cheaib on September 7th, 2020 at the age of 52. Son of the Late Georges and Milia Cheaib and predeceased by his brother Raymond. Joe will be forever remembered by his wife Teresa Soda, and his precious children, Emilia and Peter. He will also be forever loved and remembered by his brothers, Khalil (Jihane), Jamil (Mirna), Elie (Guita) and Sam (Rima), his sisters, Linda (Saïd), Lucie (Joseph) and Jacqueline (Elie), his sister-in-law Faten, his numerous nephews and nieces as well as his extended family and dear friends.
